Why Sylo Tickets?

Sylo Tickets are one of several scalable payment mechanisms that we could have chosen and have two key advantages over alternative approaches:

• Once generated, Sylo Tickets have value for a significant period of time and can be passed around between actors in an arbitrary way before eventually being redeemed by the intended recipient, unlike 1-1 payment mechanisms like channels. This makes them far more flexible for protocol design.

• A Sylo Ticket (winning or otherwise) is a cryptographically verifiable piece of evidence that payment was made for work – a fact we will make use of later on.
